Hockey, being Canada's national sport is a must on the activity list. Although I don't know much about it, it's entertaining and it's always good to encourage Canadian Teams. On December 5, I got the chance to go see the Ottawa Senators play against New York Islanders at 7pm. The game was at the Canadian Tire Centre where my family and I had to drive to. |
Offering 5 restaurants to eat inside the building and also many other little kiosks, we decided to stop at 'Club Red' where they served a variety of meat. The food was delicious, it was a very big plate which kept us full for a while. The cost was a little pricey but was definitely worth the money. The restaurant was clean, the time to get served was good and the staff was very nice and welcoming. |
The hockey team in Ottawa was formed in 1884 but was named Ottawa Hockey Club. In 1902 they were officially named Ottawa Senators having red, black and white striped uniforms. Having already won 11 Stanley cups in the years 1903 to 1927, their last one being won in 1927. But only having won 4 when being called Ottawa Senators. |
During the first 2 minutes of the game, New York Islanders had already scored once which didn't look like a good start. Keeping the lead by 2-0 until the third period, NY Islanders were very strong. As the game went on, the crowd kept encouraging the Senators mostly during the 'make some noise' part written on the screen, being a little discouraged that we hadn't scored yet and already in third period. When the first goal was scored by Mark Stone in third period, the crowd went wild. But as we got closer to the end of the period people started leaving thinking we had lost, but at 36.2 seconds left Mike Hoffman scored. Therefore going into overtime, everybody was anxious to see if we would win, when Erik Karlsson scored the final goal to make his team win. |
Finishing the game 3-2 for Ottawa Senators. Overall the game was fair and well-played, the crowd was ecstatic when we won, the environment was clean, there was an attendance of 17,281 people and it was a great game.
Tip: You want to go see a Hockey game without paying too much? Drive to Ottawa and go see them play, their tickets are much more inexpensive then going to see the Montreal Canadiens.
