If it wouldn't have been for this project I don't think I would've ever tried it. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it all turned out, it took time to adapt but I loved the experience. They offer 3 types of waves; beginner (2ft wave), intermediate (3 - 4ft wave) and expert (5 - 6ft wave). Since I had never done it I chose beginner, it really made you concentrated and work on your balance, there were people to help you get on the board and give you advice all while being in a safe environment. |
I was always hesitant about surfing because it's not easy and many people are watching you. I think once I got the hang of it, all I was concentrated on was not falling and trying to stay on the wave for a longer period of time. Obviously I had to fall off, it was unexpected at first but by the end I knew when I would fall and after the 45 minute session I had bruises pretty much everywhere. |
What I gained from this activity is that no matter how many people watch you, how beginner or talented you are, you're going to fall and the best thing to do is laugh about it and have fun. No matter what fear you have of looking bad or trying something new, all it could do is bring you some positive. I loved the experience and I will definitely go back, it's different from any sports I tried and I'm glad I took the chance to try it.
I definitely suggest going to try it out, it's a great experience and they give great service. With time you get better and it could always be a fun activity with friends and family.
